Paul Mescal has the talent for turning dull clothing into menswear trends. Everyone has been going crazy about his silver “Connell chains” and thigh-baring rugby shorts look.
People have admired his fashion sense since Mescal starred in the 2020 Hulu series Normal People. And now he’s done it again, with a new look that involves a plain white crop top.
Paul’s Gucci Look
Paul Mescal recently attended a Gucci event, and he showed off in a white crop top and jeans. The look was so casual that some people didn’t even notice that it was, in fact, all Gucci.
If you look closely, however, you might see all the details typical for the Italian luxury brand: the blue jeans have a crisp crease in the center and a slight kicked-out flare; the white socks were tucked into a pair of shiny black leather pair of horse-bit loafers, even if it does look a bit “Michael Jackson in Smooth Criminal”!
Mescal, a global ambassador for Gucci, took pictures with the house’s new creative director, Sabato de Sarno. The mullet complemented Paul’s fashion look.
The Crop Top Trend
The highlight of Paul’s outfit was, without a doubt, the cropped white T-shirt. It was coming up just above his hips, and the short sleeves were rolled, too. This piece of clothing must be one of his favorites—we’ve seen him wearing it before, but paired with flared khakis and black Adidas Sambas.
The DIY crop top trend became popular among men thanks to TikTok earlier this year. Hacking a few inches off the hemline is an easy way to hop on that trend. Just follow the rule of thirds: the top should take one-third of the outfit while the pants get the remaining two-thirds. Plus, you won’t have to constantly be tucking in your T-shirt, which offers more comfort. We expect you to wear a crop top at least once in the next week. Go for it!
